Week in Review - December 29 to January 4
Another week in the books! And the first in 2026, where I'm sure everything will be...fine? Let's go with fine. I hope. Anyway, let's get into the recap for this week.
100 Subscribers!
First order of business, I hit 100 subscribers on YouTube this past week! It actually happened shortly before my last weekly post, but I didn't notice it then. Oops! Anyway, thank you all so much for subscribing to the channel on YouTube! I'm not exactly playing the numbers game in the long run, but it is still a bit nice to see positive progress being made, you know?
YouTube Videos
Speaking of YouTube, I was once again only able to get 3 videos posted this week. Holidays be like that. Against the Storm Part 11 and News Tower Part 3 are continuing those respective series, since I can't stop playing them. They're both still a ton of fun.
More interestingly, the 6th and final part of Ace Combat 6 was posted this week! I tried to do a little sound magic by playing the Liberation of Gracemeria theme a bit louder by inserting the actual music track into the video, and I thought it turned out okay! I might start highlighting my favorite game music in a similar way in future videos. Should be fun if I can manage it!
I've already recorded this coming week's News Tower video (I told you I can't stop playing it!), and a short Final Fantasy Tactics part to get me started on the grind I need to be doing. I'm not sure if I'll continue to make FFT grind videos or not yet. I'm planning on a full suite of videos this week, and I promise I will get another part of Minish Cap up! I swear!
Drifting Blossom
I also wanted to give a brief update on Drifting Blossom. I've started playing Chapter 5, with a brief Expedition for Sakura to reach her next destination. My next session should hopefully be a bit longer, and allow me to play through her next mission. If you haven't read the beginning of this Ironsworn: Starforged Cyberpunk playthrough, you can find it on AO3.
Outlandish Baseball League
I also had originally planned on starting Season 3 of my Outlandish Baseball League, my first publicly readable Deadball league, a while back. Unfortunately, I ran into something that I needed to get done behind the scenes on the game simulator I had programmed, and that's delayed the start quite a bit. That said, I am getting much closer to having the simulator back up and running! Honestly, I've gotten past the hard part of the reprogramming and just need to get the thing finished at this point. Hopefully that will be done in the next week or so. Ideally, I'd love to get this thing started on MLK Jr. weekend.
Personal Gameplay
Outside of my recorded games, I've been slowly making progress on the Time Trials in Sonic Racing CrossWorlds, and doing my usual weekly tasks in Final Fantasy XIV. I've also been playing quite a bit of MTG Arena over the past few months, and I've considered maybe recording a video every week or so with the silly deck ideas I come up with. I mostly play Standard Brawl, so I end up playing some thematic decks designed around certain characters. Maybe I'll give that a shot this week.
I also want to specifically mention Mega Man Battle Network, which I attempted to start playing yesterday. I say "attempted", because I mistakenly thought the Legacy Collection would have added autosave, and I ended up losing a good chunk of progress thanks to an early death. Now that I know there is no autosave, I'll be more cognizant of saving as I play when I get back to it.
