Week in Review - December 22-28
It's time for the first week in review! I'm hoping that this will be a regular thing for me on Sundays going forward. Think of this as a newsletter, or something along those lines, to keep me honest about all my avenues of creativity. If I shout it into the void, then I'll keep notes about it, right?
Right?
Anyway. Let's look at what I posted this week!
Six Crystals, One Light
The biggest thing this week was my final posting of Six Crystals, One Light! I had originally planned on posting these chapters throughout the year, but I had delayed multiple chapters for longer than expected. I decided to go ahead and post the last 9 chapters on Saturday, the 27th, thus completing the rewrite of A Realm Reborn from the eyes of my characters. Though I have plenty of ideas on how I would want the rest of the rewrite to go from this point, I'll be considering if I want to continue writing these over the next few weeks. Perhaps it will come back!
YouTube Videos
YouTube videos were a little bit thin this week, unfortunately. I struggled to find the time to record throughout the week, but I did get 2 videos of my own alongside a two-part collaboration with my sister!
The week started off with my sister posting the VOD of her stream of Peak, where we desperately tried to get her to the top of the mountain before the end of the year. It was a lot of fun playing Peak again, and I need to get back to doing my solo climbs at some point in the future. That same stream, we also played some Sonic Racing CrossWorlds together, which was so much fun we would do it again this weekend for the NiGHTS festival, which should be up on my channel tomorrow!
As for my own videos, I posted Against the Storm Part 10 on Tuesday, with the settlement of Bronze Creek taking another shot at the Bronze Seal. This game was a long one, clocking in at 2 hours, and took a lot of planning to take advantage of the Trade Routes this time around. Seals always tend to be the most tense settlements to run, and I hope this one is entertaining to watch!
I also posted Part 2 of News Tower, piloting the Menovar Daily through the middle of 1930. We're now seeing the influence of the other newspapers we'll be competing against, and the map is really starting to come alive now that we're able to reach out to farther neighborhoods. The balance of profit and expansion is starting to become an issue, though, and I'm excited to play more next week!
Personal Gameplay
Outside of YouTube, I've been collecting some games to play for the channel during the Steam Winter Sale. I should have plenty of games for next year already, but it never hurts to have some more to choose from!
I've been playing Kaizen: A Factory Story this week, which I've been enjoying as a good game to relax with. I've played plenty of this style of game before, but I really like the aesthetics of this game for some reason. I'm about half way through the story by now, and it's been a cute little story. I appreciate a simple game like this sometimes.
I've also gotten back into Rift of the NecroDancer after getting the DLC for the game, and I can really tell I missed this game. The game is still a lot of fun, and I have to admit "Just 1dB Louder" is now in contention for my favorite Miku song of all time. It's definitely in the top 3. Also, gotta love some "Crab Rave".
Of course, I've been playing plenty of Final Fantasy XIV, trying to get the highest iLvl gear I can. More Normal Raid accessories have been obtained (I've now gotten a full set of both the Casting and Aiming accessories), and I'm also finishing up getting the Orange Scrip gathering gear. The crafting gear is probably going to take me a while! I really need to get myself to grind my Phantom Jobs a bit more in anticipation of the next Relic Weapon step coming up.
A quick wrap-up here of the rest of my games played this week. I tried Rabbit and Steel, which is an interesting game. I love the art style, but I tried recording it and wasn't exactly keen on how that recording turned out. Maybe that'll be another game I use as a chill game after work. I also picked up Jaleco Sports: Bases Loaded, which I'm excited to have. Bases Loaded was an important game for me and my dad when I was growing up! One of these days, I'll put together a video of the baseball games I've played in the past.
Other Media
Haven't done much else this week, thanks to the holiday. I did get to watch the final episode of My Hero Academia this week, which was a good ending for the series. Overall, I loved MHA. Fantastic anime from beginning to end, and the dub was absolutely worth watching. Now that that's finished, I'll be looking for other anime to watch. Frieren is on my short list to watch going forward, to be sure!
